In Which I Start a Newsletter
Deeper Thoughts
“This desk is not big enough for my dreams!” Aka something I yelled into the void (or at my desk) tonight. And it stopped me in my tracks. When I bought this desk a year ago, it was appropriately sized for my dreams. Nice and small, definitely tidy. And tonight it is overflowing. My small spark of a dream, starting an organizing business, was set into motion almost 3 years ago. And while my business is still small, just a newborn really, it has so much potential that it scares me. But also excites me.
And so I am happy that you’re here and I am here with you.
A Bit of Business
I hope this newsletter provides you something more than just “organizational tips”. Although, don’t worry, those will be included too. I want it to be a combination of tips, deeper thoughts, what’s been going on at Simple Blackbird Co, some favorite things of the week, books I’m reading. I guess in short, inspiration. For you, for me, for our homes and businesses and for our lives. Shall we get on with it? Yes, already!
Products That Caught My Eye
These wooden holders for ziploc bags. Heart eye emoji for days!
This set of Better Home & Garderns food containers that were on sale for Black Friday. Did you snag a set from my Instagram Stories?
This set is gone, but here is another set.
Hot Organizing Tip
Use wine bottle holders to store small & medium sized water bottles in your cabinets. No more rolling around or getting lost in the abyss.
November Book Round Up
You Are a Bada** - Jen Sincero
This was on par with most of this genre. I like her other book, You Are a BadA** at Making Money, more. But worth the read and full of good little nuggets. As with most of these types books, I take what I like and leave the rest.
Echo Mountain - Lauren Wolk
This might be my favorite Laure Wolk book. Middle Grade fiction, set in the mountains of Maine during The Depression. A classic coming of age of a young girl, with a wise older women, a new best friend and trauma to overcome. Basically my favorite kind of book.
The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning - Margareta Magnusson
A book about decluttering and getting things in order as you grow old, downsize, and prepare your belongings for your eventual death. The book was very tame and slow, as if written by someone between the ages of 80 and 100 (what they author said her age was). But gets your thinking about how you can help your family members or yourself, so you don’t leave a house full of “stuff” behind for others to deal with.
See You Next Week
Thank you for reading. And for joining me over at @simpleblackbird on IG and Facebook. I love connecting with ya’ll, so send me a message and say hi!
